Hersey Deaf Alumni Association
Our Purpose

The purpose of the Hersey Deaf Alumni Association (HDAA) is to organize reunions every five years and oversee the Scholarship and Helping Hands Programs.

Scholarship Program

Our annual goal is to provide scholarships to deaf or hard-of-hearing students who graduate from John Hersey High School. The selected candidate must be part of the deaf and hard of hearing community and embody the spirit of Hersey. In order to make a sound decision, we include current staff feedback on selected candidates.

Reunions

Our aim to have a reunion every five years. All staff and alumni are welcome to attend the reunions. In order to keep our reunions affordable, we have a committee to oversee the planning of the event and handle the fundraising.

The next reunion will occur in 2025. Stay tuned for forthcoming information.

Helping Hands Program

Helping Hands Program's vision is to assist needy current and former alumni and staff. We desire to help those dealing with unexpected situations get back on their feet. We understand situations and tragedy can strike unexpectedly.

Our Helping Hands Program includes, for example giving students hearing aid batteries, paying for school field trip costs, and giving gift cards to a local food store to bring food on the table for an alumni's family.
